I don't know about you, but for me, watching Tasty videos is often times one of my favorite activities, especially for procrastination purposes. Generally, once I wipe away the drool that may or may not have collected in the corner of my mouth, I wonder, Is it really as easy and as good as that looks?? Well friends, we are setting out to answer those questions in a new series, Two Friends Takes on Tasty. We'll test the recipes, and report back on everyone's favorite food porn!
First up: Easy Butter Chicken. As a pretty basic Indian dish, this caught our attention for both its ease and promising amount of flavor, and we were not disappointed.

Making the grocery list, we were pleasantly surprised by its short length, as the recipe, for the most part, incorporated ingredients that most well-stocked pantries will have.
As for making the dish, it was both straightforward and incredibly aromatic. You marinate the chicken briefly in a mix of spices, then brown it in the pan. After removing the mostly cooked chicken, in the very same pan, you begin building the layers of the butter sauce, starting with onions then gradually adding in spices, tomato sauce, and cream. After adding the chicken back into the sauce for a bit of simmering, the warm & inviting smell of the spices filled the kitchen, and in no time, it was ready to eat!
We served the dish over rice, cooked according to the package, with Naan, a soft, thin Indian bread; it’s sort of like pita bread. We brushed it with oil and heated it up according to the package for a few minutes in a 400 degree oven.

The dish was both beautiful and filled with flavor that grew with every bite. It did pack a bit of a bite that, while we enjoyed it, could be avoided by going light on the cayenne pepper. The only modification we made was substituting 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon for the cinnamon stick. Overall, we loved the recipe, plan to make it again, and would definitely recommend--it really was ~tasty~!!
